Edition 19
Welcome,
I'm Stefan, and this is edition 19 of Looking For The Good Stuff, conceived and written at my HQ in Berlin, Germany. Just like Oscar Wilde, I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.
The Champ
Far too many obituaries lately. The music legend Alan Hawkshaw sadly left this world last weekend. The Guardian says: The ubiquitous Alan Hawkshaw was the best-known British composer you’d never heard of. Well that certainly depends on who “you” are… ;)
Other recommended obituaries are from BBC News, Classic FM and Alan Hawkshaws local newspaper, Borehamwood & Elstree Times.
Quiet nights and quiet stars
How we made is one of quite a few great weekly series in The Guardian. The concept is that two creators of a seminal art works tell their story of the creative process. In this week’s edition, Charles Blackwell. arranger, and Engelbert Humperdinck, singer, presents how the easy listening classic Release Me came to life in 1967.
Go getter
This month’s edition of The Karminsky Experience mix is available on Mixcloud. Excellent as always! Kicks off with Crianca, a wonderful bossa nova piece by Franco Micalizzi from the soundtrack to the very first lacrima movie, L’ultima neve di primavera!
The next edition will show up tomorrow.
All the best.
Stefan
